I am on the job market for AP positions in the 2026 cycle. Happy to connect if you think my work may be a good fit.
My research focuses on human-AI communication, social support, online community, digital harm, well-being, human-computer interaction and computational communication. I am passionate about exploring the socio-technical mechanisms underlying supportive and prosocial communication processes, and how information and communication technologies (e.g. AI chatbots, online communities, social media) can be designed and used to improve well-being and mental health, enhance prosocial behavior and relationship, mitigate digital harms, and generally contribute to social good.
As a computational and mixed-method researcher, I used a wide variety of research methods, e.g. automatic text analysis, visual analysis, social network analysis, surveys, prompt engineering, and lab and field experiment, to gain insights into people's emotions, experiences and interactions with new and emerging communication technologies, as well as the resulting changes and effects on mental well-being and social and community behaviors. My research is at the intersection of communication and human-computer/machine interaction, and has been published in top-tier journals and conference proceedings, including NPJ Digital Medicine, Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, CHI, Social Media + Society,Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking among others. My research has been highlighted by the Associate Press, Nature, National Geographic, and over 100 other media outlets and included in policy documents such as Human Development Report 2025.
